coco+kelley | room of the week 7.9

I will fully admit that some days I will spend hours hunting down the source for a photo once I find a room that speaks to me. Such was the case with this bedroom created by Mally Skok covered entirely in her Africa Collection textiles.

I think some of you know my love for Africa – of the few places that I’ve visited (Zambia, South Africa and now Morocco), the people and the culture dig into your heart. And, from a design perspective, the textiles are all incredibly inspiring. So when I saw Mally’s homage to this great continent, I instantly fell in love with the room she designed around it.

The botswana trees are my favorite along with the modern interpretation of the Kuba cloth. The pop of blue in the lamps plays off of the zig zag roman shades perfectly, and the addition of authentic African pieces as decor is essential to the space.

But what stands out the most to me in this space is the fact that even with all these layers of textiles, it doesn’t feel busy or overwhelming – just fresh and relaxing.
